UK gamers score triumphs
UK pro-gaming team Four-Kings has had one of its best weekends with several members racking up wins.
In tournaments in the US and France two clan members took top honours in Warcraft events, taking home almost $20,000 in prize money.
In another competition, top Painkiller player David Treacy overcame illness to keep his top 10 world ranking.
But the team's Counter-Strike squad got knocked out at the group stage of the competition they were playing in.
Winning ways
The week of 6-10 July was marked on the calendars of many computer gaming fans as it was the date for two big tournaments.
Paris hosted the E-Sports World Cup and Dallas was the venue for a tournament which combined a stop on the globe-trotting Cyberathlete Professional League (CPL) World Tour with its regular summer event.
In Paris, Four-Kings Intel Warcraft III player Manuel Schenkhuizen (aka Grubby) took the top prize of $13,000 (£7,330) after playing 14 gruelling games.
During his advance to the final, Grubby took on and knocked out another Four-Kings member Dae Hee Cho (aka Fov) while Sebastian Pesic (aka Fury) went on to finish fifth and win $2,000.
Four-Kings also had a team in the Counter-Strike competition at the E-Sports World Cup but the team did not get past the group stages and finished outside the top 10.
A US clan called Complexity were crowned E-Sports World Cup champions by beating the 2004 winners SK Gaming and took the $40,000 prize.
In Dallas, Four-Kings also did well in the Warcraft III competition of the Cyberathlete Professional League's summer event.
