AOL Yellow Pages to Include Listings of YellowPages.com YellowPages.com, the business search Web site owned by SBC Communications and BellSouth, will announce today that America Online will include its listings on AOL Yellow Pages. SBC and BellSouth hope that the extra exposure for their YellowPages.com listings will make their Web site more attractive to advertisers looking to promote themselves online. SBC and BellSouth will pay AOL an undisclosed amount for access to its network. The phone companies, which also have alliances with Google and Yahoo, expect 70 million searches a month for its YellowPages.com listings after their partnership with AOL begins. According to comScore Media Metrix, a research firm, 4.17 million unique viewers visited YellowPages.com in April, 69 percent more than the same month in 2004. During that same period, the number of unique visitors at AOL Yellow Pages declined by 51 percent, to 2.1 million. SBC, BellSouth and others have been expanding their online advertising businesses to meet growth in demand for Web-based directories. SBC and BellSouth bought YellowPages.com last year and are moving the listings from SMARTpages.com and RealPages.com, their individual Web sites, to YellowPages.com. The two companies employ 4,000 sales representatives in 22 states to sell advertisements for their Web sites as well as for their traditional Yellow Pages books, which they each own.
