There is no rules as such for website design. But every freelancer/ website design company must follow certain standards in order to make a the website design a success. The website design must be made in such a way that it can grab the visitors to the website along with propagating the goal of the website clearly. This should be done within the framework of certain standards so that the website can bring favorable response.
This article focuses on some such standards that the website designer must follow while designing the website.
# The website designer must avoid incorporating any wrong informations to the website just because the client asked to do so. The client can have clear idea about the goal but it is foolish to think that the client is aware of the technology that goes behind making the website design. Things that the website designer finds not complying to the website design standards, they should take this to the notice of the client. Ultimately the client wont loose. E.g. making a website that is not HTML validated is not worth designing. This needs to be understood by the client and the website designer must make the client understand this. So it is essential to read the briefs before starting the actual work.
# The biggest obstacle in front of a website designer while website designing is "Browser compatibility". It needs to be understood clearly that different web browsers supports different kinds of settings. A setting that looks good on one browser doesn't necessarily mean that it will be compatible on the other browsers as well. There are many techniques that can make a website compatible to many browsers but most of them are not successful. The best option hence left is to follow certain standards that goes behind making a website compatible to more than one kind of browser. The website design standards are hence considered the best possible alternative for website design.
# All the website designers must refrain from using unscrupulous techniques of website design. This can harm the goal and efforts that goes behind making a website design. There must be some basic parameters set while coding for a website.
