Recently we had a meeting with one of our client and the developer suddenly used the word "CSS" and the client replied was "What?". This is surely a laugh for those who work in a web development company but it is not a common lingo among layman. With the widespread of internet technology, there commonly used web developers words are gaining limelight. Slowly people now started to come in terms of these words. This article is just an effort to get you acquainted with some of the commonly used words in a web development company.

# HTML and Static pages:

This word is very familiar with its abbreviation. The full extension of this word is "Hyper Text Markup Language". This is the most commonly used language for most of the websites. The file name carrying the extention of .html are written in HTML language. This softwares helps creating, what is commonly known, "Static pages". Static pages signifies those pages which contains just some simple graphics along with some texts as its content. There is no database link on these type of pages. In most of the cases these static pages are created manually. This does n`t require very high technical knowledge in order to use them.

# Dynamic Pages:

These pages are those which are database driven. Generally e-commerce based website contains dynamic pages as the owner of the pages might want to change the products/services the he is offering through the website. These pages are made of static pages and database driven pages where informations are directly retrieved from the database of the site. A typical dynamic page is our e-mail account on major sites like msn, yahoo, aol etc. . They uses dynamic pages because for them it is not possible to cater to their huge customer pages with static pages. When you put the username and password, it search the database through your access details and show you the results.

# CSS:

This is also an abbreviation for "Cascading Style Sheets". This is a tool through which the developer control the documents for view on your website. This brings consistency to your website because everytime the styles of all the pages in not changed manually. Because the style sheet is used throughout the site, it only downloads once, so the site will load faster and provide quicker access to its visitors. CSS can also be used to modify the look of forms, text color, and more.

# Meta Tags:

It is a series of statement that you can use while developing your website in order to let he search engine know about each of your individual webpages. Meta tags are written within the code and this is invisible to those who visit your site. It is targeted to the search engine performance only.

# Links Swapping:

Swapping links with those sites who are into similar kind of business that of yours is helpful. Get in touch with them and try to convince them for link swapping. Thumb rule is that your site must have more links than that of your competitor.

# Keyword Optimisation:

You need to find a proper set of keywords that best describes your type of business. for a web content development company, the best keyword could be "website design", "website design company", "custom website design" etc.. So you need to allocate a proper keyword for using those in the content of your website. Add them to your website's title, meta tags, and heading tags.
