Using RSS for search engine performance
What is RSS? :
RSS: Rich Site Syndication.
It is a simply a file format similar to "XML". This is generally used by the publishers in order to make their content available to others in a format that is universally understood. This became famous after the advent of spam filters and online blogging to get their message across to the subscriber. But the biggest advantage of RSS is its enhancing capacity on search engine performance.
Why RSS enhances search engine performance:
If you build your site around any particular subject or theme than your search engine ranking will possibly go higher. For example for a website design company, if the entire content of the site is focused on website design or website development than there is high chances that the ranking of the website might go higher. By using highly targeted RSS feeds, you can enhance your site's content without having to write a single line on your own. It’s like having your own content writer - writing theme-based articles for you - for free!
How RSS enhances search engine performance:
There are three reasons due to which it is found that RSS feeds can enhance search engine results.
1) It provides fresh content to the site:
Since there are several publisher of RSS feeds on a particular theme, so your content might be having those keywords with high ranking. This will make the search engine Tag your website as a relevant content.
2) Providing instant themed Content:
As the web publisher feeds new articles to the site, the old articles is dropped and replaced with the new one. These changes are immediately reflected on a RSS feed page.
3) RSS feed results are frequently spidered:
It is found that the Googlebot likes the RSS feed of the website. Some of the website owners reported that googlebot visited their website almost regularly. This means you site could be indexed more frequently if it contains RSS feeds.Google generally index pages once every month. This is also known as "Google Dance". If you miss indexing for a month then you need to wait for one more month in order to get indexed. But if your website has RSS feeds then your pages might get indexed quite often.
