The saga of E-Commerce
The advent of E-commerce brought in a revolution in the business world. It crossed the geographical barrier of business. It helped the small companies getting big and the big in a bigger way. The tremendous growth of e-commerce brought some of the small business players into the global market to compete. Small and even smallest business now started getting the opportunity to reach to the global market through their website.
What is E-commerce?:
In simple words it is buying and selling of products and services online. But this is just the tip of a huge iceberg. The actual scope of e-commerce is much bigger than that stated in the previous statement. To circumscribe this in one statement is difficult, even impossible. A simple way to understand this could be that supposedly you are dealing with buying and selling of products. If you make your e-commerce site then you will be able to display and sell those products through your website. Previously only your domestic people were knowing you and your company but now your company is known globally and you might get contracts internationally.
The darker side of E-commerce:
It is true that your e-commerce based website can fetch you customers from different geographical locations. Now you can get customers whom you could n`t see even. But the problem is that in order to get customers your website needs to be seen by your potential customer. The fact is that the number of websites joining the internet is growing at an unbelievable rate. So this reduces the chances that your potential buyer will be able to locate you. The competition to top the search engine ranking is also cut throat. Apart from that, if you are not accurate about products on display for online selling than there is a possibility that your potential customer might go to your competitor. And the point to be noted here is that going away from you to your competitor is just 2 clicks of time span.
The most important factor is to generate traffic for your website. This is the only way you can get a favorable ranking from the search engines and hence more visitors coming to your site for business. Some of the methods are mentioned below in respect of generating traffic for the site.
# Directory Listings:
There are many online Directories such as google.com etc where you can list your site. Directory listing is very important part of gaining your link popularity thereby enhancing your Page Ranking.
# Links Swapping:
Swapping links with those sites who are into similar kind of business that of yours is helpful. Get in touch with them and try to convince them for link swapping. Thumb rule is that your site must have more links than that of your competitor.
# Keyword Optimisation:
You need to find a proper set of keywords that best describes your type of business. for a web content development company, the best keyword could be "website design", "website design company", "custom website design" etc.. So you need to allocate a proper keyword for using those in the content of your website. Add them to your website's title, meta tags, and heading tags.
Conclusion
It is just not important to flow with the myth, it is important to sustain the changes that gets generated form the myth.
