TCP/IP - is a coding system is used to describe data through the computers to each other on the network. It is a network protocol, a secret of the Net.

TCP/IP is actually, TCP stands for Transmission Control Protocol and IP stands for Internet Protocol and data are received from and send to through these two protocols which every computer hooked to the Internet must understand these two.

TCP/IP generates a packet-switched network that transmits through a wire and minimizes the chances of any data loss.

At first, TCP splits the data in pieces to any email messages or any instructions from Java Applet into small packets and each packet is wrapped with the web addresses of the sender as well as the recipient. Now, IP decides how these packets travel from the sender point to the recipients point by passing through a number of routers, something as in real mailing system, mails go through several post offices to a remote place.

Each routers check the packets up its destination addresses while receive and thus all the packets reach at the final destination. If any email is broken into fifteen several parts, every individual part may travel through an unidentical route. Yet, both the sender and the recipient will hardly know about it since TCP takes care of it after receiving these packets. It first checks the whether these are intact and then reassemble them.

There are many Internet protocols and among which TCP/IP is the most important. The others are like Simple Mail Transfer Protocol(SMTP), File Transfer Protocol(FTP) and Telnet Protocol etc.
