It is a fact that world’s most commercial web sites are unadorned, uncomplicated, hazard free to use. The best example in this regard will be if we site the names of Yahoo, Amazon, and Dell etc. All of these sites are easy to handle so that any kind of people can go through it without getting distracted. We can see that the most efficient web sites pull themselves apart from using uncomplicated graphics or animations while selling their products or services. This is not because of that indulging in these entire thing is expensive, but because their motto is to sell products or services, and they don’t want graphics or animations to distract the attention from goal. One should never forget that the reason behind making a web site is to put up on market some products or services not to make an impact on the people showing mechanical expertise. On the top of that to design a web site, which is, full of extreme technical expertise, is very costly. On the contrary, simple looking web site is much more effective than its counter part. So it dose not seem sensible to pay a huge amount of money to a web designer for the building of a web site that won’t be of much use. To meet the end, a web site which is easy to handle, cost effective and will meet the purpose of the client is much more better than a costly one.
It has become customary for the web designer to make web sites, which are exaggerated, flashy and animated, but the minus point is that the excessive use of technology makes a web page load slowly. All these elements no doubt makes a web site striking in appearance, but at the same time disturbing to most of customers who use dial-up dial up connections. It is not expected from a potential customer to wait for 30 seconds or more for the home page to download. Only one thing can be expected from them is that they will visit another site to meet their purpose which is fast loading. So the yield after spending a lot of money on making of a visually attractive website is losing prospective customers.
Understand Your Target Audience
It is not easy for every one to understand and get used to Internet technology. So it a challenge to the web designer to make a web site, which will be simple enough to make people understand, and at the same time goes hand in hand with the modern technologies. It should be simple but should not be sub-standard. The web pages should be clean, the lay out should be minimal, but he has to ensure that fast loading web page is the pivot around which the web site will revolve. Proper navigation structure is another requirement so that all the information is within the easy access of the client.
Website should be cross-browser compatible so that the site is consistent to Internet users with different versions of Internet browsers. The web site should appear the same to all type of computer screen, irrespective of the size.
IMPORTANCE OF THE CONTENT
The question may come to our mind that if the web site is made simple, without incorporating technical expertise, how will it be able to attract the customer. The answer is to include fascinating, appealing and functional content in the web site. The inclusion of elaborate information regarding the products and services provided will be a good idea, as people are browsing the site to know more about them only. So web site designer should make provision in the site so that people can come to know more about the thing in which they are interested – not about the flashy and animated part. Another thing, which can be incorporated in a web site to make more attractive and useful, is the provision of writing or posting articles related to the products or services the company deals with. All these things will create an impression in the mind of the clients about the reliability of the company, which will boost up the company’s sale.
