Search engine performance on frames
Why using Frames?
This is an aesthetically great way to help website design where users don`t need to scroll down anymore instead they scroll through the information within a window in the design itself. All great players in website designing domain have tested and implemented using of frames for designing of websites. But then suffices a major problem of using frames in search engine performance.
Problem of using frames:
Lets try to understand this through an example. Suppose you are using 4 frames while designing your website page. One for the top Header, One for the buttons on the left, One for the bottom and the last for the information in the middle.
when the search engine look at your page, it then has to crawl through all the four pages of informations in order to assemble together one layed-out page of your website. But this is something not desirable when it comes to better search engine performance. You would definately like to propogate all crucial informations about your business as fast as possible instead of search engine going into the maze of pages in order to get desirable page with informations which will be time consuming and by then visitor might leave.
So there are some logical steps that must be taken if you intend to use frames on your website design:
1) Add more informations in all the frames that you build.
2) Re-design your website without using frames.
You can take into account wither of the two options mentioned above. Incorporating Option 1 is quite "Tricky" but option 2 is quite straightforward.
Let us assume that you choose option 1 and proceeds ahead. So lets try to understand how to start to implement more informations withn your frames.
*Point to be noted: For already established websites, it is important to find out what frames have been indexed 1st and which ones haven't. The ones that have been indexed 1st are the ones you should add more links to. Besides that, what you want to do is pre-determine and select a frame that visitors CANNOT scroll up/down or side to side. Doing this will ensure that only search engines can see your information and not the user who might wonder what in the world you are doing.
After a specific frame is selected, you would like to look at all or only those pages which contains all the text informations within them. It is also important to determine a "Key Phrase" that best describes each of your webpages. For example, your page about "Affordable Web Design" be ideally named as "web design.html". This will help the users to know the content of the page as well. So it becomes important to go through all the informations and write then write down a descriptive "Key phrase" and the "URL" for each page of information in your website.
About using frames that you select to work on, You must add a "Key Phrase" underneath the information that people can see. You can highlight those using "Bullet Points".
Some examples for better understanding:
Logo design page (linking to logo-design.html)
Affordable Web Design (linking to "web-design.html)
e-commerce web page (linking to e-commerce.html)
Flash based page (linking to flash-design.html)
Graphic Design (linking to "graphic-services.html)
Also paramount is to test frames within different screen sizes as well. The links on the page must be listed much below the cut out point so that the users mught not accidently view them. Once your finished adding your info, upload your new page and wait for search engines to come back to your site and find your newly found info structure.
conclusion:
The search engines constantly updates themselves. they generally ban those sites that use spam tactics or cloaking tactics in order to dump keywords. This is by no way a method to trick search engines.
