Pay per click marketing
Pay per click marketing runs parallel with search engine optimization. While it serves as a faster method for getting your site on the search engines initially, the better long term method is indexing through SEO.
Examples of pay per click sites are Google (The google ad words on the right side when you do a search) and Overture (connected with the sponsored matches you see show up at the top of Yahoo searches and other affiliated search engines)
Once a pay per click campaign is setup your site can be on the search engines in as short as 24 hours. As for what you can expect to pay depends on how competitive your industry is. I’ve seen a minimum of 5 or 10 cents a click, while I’ve seen some companies pay as much as five or even ten dollars a click. That’s right, DOLLARS!
Paying Per Click has actually gotten a lot of businesses in trouble. Paying to much per click and letting an unsuccessful campaign run too long can drain bank accounts and bleed a company into the red. That’s why it’s important to always START SMALL, and monitor the results until you find a formula that works.
IT’S IMPORTANT YOUR SITE HAS BEEN MADE AS MARKETABLE AS POSSIBLE BEFORE YOU START DOING PAY PER CLICK MARKETING.
There’s nothing worse than spending money for targeted clicks when they aren’t doing anything. A “blah” web site is definitely not going to make it in the pay per click world. After all, you’re competing with other sites that feel they’ve made their sites more marketable than yours.
A GREAT WAY to see how you measure up against your competitors is check out sites that are paying TOP DOLLAR for the search terms you want to be found under. Observe them for a week or so, if they remain in the top spots you’ll want to study their web site and see what strategies they are using in order to make their campaign profitable. This is one of the easiest and BEST ways I know of to tell whether the strategies a web site is using to convert leads or sales is successful.
STUDY YOUR COMPETITOR’S WEB SITES THAT CONSISTENTLY STAY AT THE TOP OF COMPETITIVE PAY PER CLICK TERMS.
