Screen Resolutions
The number of pixels spread over a particular area is called a screen resolution. 1280 x 1024 resolution is a screen resolution where 1280 pixels will fit in there horizontally and 1024 pixels will fit vertically. A web design to fit in perfectly on every type of computer screen, a designer’s main concern should be the number of horizontal pixels, so he should stress on the number of horizontal pixels. Scrolling to right is really uncustomary to view the whole web page. The designer has to ensure that no one has to do that. To avoid this confusion, some of the expert designers design their web site to fit 768 pixels across. To do this is to neglect a group of computer users who use 600 x 480.resolution. But not to do this implies not utilizing a portion of screen. As only a very less percentage of the net friendly people use 600 x 480 resolution and rest of them uses higher resolution, it will be wise to make a site of a standard size.
Now if a designer optimizes a website to 768 in width it will look nice in 1024 x 786 resolution but it is going to look empty in a 1280 x 1024 resolution. A solution to this problem is to make use of relative screen width. The thing he has to do is to make a table with 100% width and the problem is solved. The web page will adjust without human intervention to the width of the users screen. Only one thing should be kept in mind that not so much of content should be supplied in that particular portion. Otherwise there will be risk of not being adjusted, as it should be, to users who are using lower resolutions.
Testing ones website
A web designer should view a site after it is made in different screen resolution so as to make sure that it emerges in appropriately. There are some steps to do the required:
1) Right clicking on the desktop and clicking “Properties”
2) Then Clicking on the “Settings” tab
3) Moving the slider throughout all the singular resolutions and hit “OK”
4) Opening up the website to see if any more scrolling is required.
Ensure Browser Compatibility
When the designer is coding his web site with the help of an editor, he knows that some times there are a little differences in the web site’s exterior based on the kind of browser. Although, more than two third of the Internet user surf the web with Internet Explorer, it is necessary to be convinced that the site look steady in all other browsers also. A good web designer will always ensure that each an every one can view the site accurately.
