Directory Listings

Often times some of the highest ranked sites on the search engines are directories. Directories are ranked highly for two reasons..

1. They serve up valuable content relevant to the key word that is being searched.
2. They usually have many of sites in the directory linking BACK to them. Creating several hundred or even thousands of reciprocal links. (Google likes reciprocal links)

For a site just starting out, it’s very worth your while to go seek out all of the directories relevant to your industry. Many of them are free and can drive FREE targeted traffic to your site. They will also help your site eventually get better page ranking because the directories are linking to you.

ALSO, you may want to consider buying prime advertising space on a highly visible directory for your industry, these can sometimes be one of your best advertising mediums.
