Website banners helps in business promotion. E.g you can put a banner of your website in some other website so that when the visitors to that site clicks on them, they can come to your website. This is an effective way to generate traffic to your website. So it important to get your banners linked to high traffic websites so that you can also get traffic through those sites.

# It is important to make your website banner small in size so that it gets loaded easily. Bigger file size banners will take huge time to load as a result your potential customer mightn't be able to view it. Also important is the position where the banner is put in a website. So the file size and the position of the banner is an important factor to determine about its success.
# The banner should have eye catchy graphics and animations so that it compels the users to click on them. Proper graphics and animations provides that "X-factor" that might make the visitors to click on them in order to reach to your website. But here one important issue to be kept in mind is about the file size of the graphics and the animation. It will be unfavorable to have a banner with superb graphics and animations but taking huge amount of time in order to download because anyway the visitors are not being able to view the banner. So use them judiciously but effectively.
# The text content of the banner is also an important factor for making the visitors clicking on those. Initially the graphics and animations attracts the visitors towards that banner but ultimately it boils down to the text content of the banner that makes the visitors decide whether any specific banner worth clicking or not. So the text content of your banner should give an clear view of your business objective.
# A proper action call is required for all the banners because it is found that many visitors don't click on the banners even after viewing them. This is because they are not sure whether the banner is clickable or not. A "Click to know more" kind of text will help the visitor to click on those banners because now they know that those banners are clickable. As soon as the visitor click on those, it should bring them to your website.
# Refrain from using fake methods to entice the visitors through your banner. This can give positive results for a short run but in a long run it can hamper your website promotion. Some visitors might feel that they are cheated. Even some visitors were also found to think that they inadvertently clicked something that brought them to other site.

Banner creation is an important way for business promotion but this needs to be used wisely in order to get the maximum out of it.
