Additional Content Creation
In addition to proper search engine optimization an additional strategy I’ve discovered that works well is creating content oriented towards the key words you want to be found under and linking to it several layers deep.
For example say I want to sell Teddy Bears. I’m going to want to be found under “teddy bears, teddy bear gifts, soft teddy bears, etc.” A strategy I would use to get good ranking on each key word term is creating a page for each keyword, and put a small link to that content at the bottom of every page.
So for Teddy Bears, I would create a “Teddy Bears” page. I would talk about Teddy Bears, the history of teddy bears, what different kinds of teddy bears there are etc. I might even create additional pages of “teddy bears” content within this Teddy Bears page.
I would incorporate all kinds of Teddy Bear resources into the page itself too, including links to pages that relate to Teddy Bears (and I would try to get them to link back to me too.)
The Teddy Bears page would be specifically optimized in its content and the meta tags for the “teddy bears” key word.
On the bottom of the home page I’d put a link to this content, and the link would be called “teddy bears” .
I would do this for EVERY major key word term I wanted to be found under. By spending the time to create these content rich pages and linking to them from every main page of your web site, the value of your web site for those competitive key words will go way up and so will your rankings!
